Mumbai, March 13: Union Agriculture Minister and NCP chief Sharad Pawar today warned RPI leader Ramdas Athavale of the consequences of his growing proximity to Shiv Sena, saying people would desert him if he gave up the Ambedkar ideology of social justice.
“You have trodden along the path of Ambedkar philosophy of social justice. If you give it up, people will desert you,” Pawar warned Athavale while speaking at a function to felicitate senior NCP leader and trade unionist Vijay Kamble here.
Athavale, a close ally of Pawar, lost the 2009 Lok Sabha polls from Shirdi parliamentary constituency.
He recently visited Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray at his residence Matoshree and praised his contribution to Marathi.
Athawale has also spoken of uniting “Bhimshakti” and “Shivshakti” at public functions.
However, Athavale while speaking at Kamble’s felicitation function said too much was being read into his visit.
