Mumbai, April 18: Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar cannot be singly blamed for price rise and government as a whole was responsible for putting the ‘aam admi’ (common man) to hardship, BJP chief Nitin Gadkari said today.
Addressing a press conference ahead of the party’s planned agitation on Wednesday, he said that “bad governance and wrong economic policies” of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi were also responsible for price rise.
Gadkari said though Pawar cannot be absolved of responsibility for the price rise, the cabinet is supreme and as its head Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi and finance and commerce ministers are responsible for putting the ‘aam admi’ to lot of hardships.
The BJP said it would welcome Left or other parties joining its nationwide agitation on price rise issue.
