Even as BJP-led Centre is dilly-dallying on according special status to Andhra Pradesh, Actor turned politician and Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan today said BJP has to keep its promise.
The Telugu cine hero tweeted on Monday that it is ripe time for the BJP to offer special status to Andhra Pradesh facing adverse impact after bifurcation. The BJP, he said, keeping the bifurcation problems in view, had promised special status to the residuary State.
Pawan’s remarks assume importance as the Congress leaders staged a protest demanding special status to AP at Gandhi statue at Parliament House on the first day of the budget session. The actor opined that the BJP will not let down the aspirations of the people, who also supported them at the Centre. “I don’t think the BJP will go back on its promise in this regard”, he tweeted.
It may be noted that Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said recently that the Centre was looking into the demand of special status that has some issues and problems to be addressed before according it. Venkaiah also invited wrath from Opposition parties for not keeping the promise on time and trying to evade the issue. At this juncture, Pawan Kalyan, who extended support to the BJP and Narendra Modi in general elections, will have some positive impact on the Centre to focus and settle the issue soon, it is being stated.
