Chandigarh, June 29: In a bizarre incident a patient burned to death yesterday night when the ventilator put on him caught fire. The incident occurred here at PGI. 52 year old Ghinder Singh was admitted to PGI a month ago on complaint of liver disorder. Later he was shifted to emergency ward and last night he was put on ventilator as his condition deteriorated. Suddenly the ventilator caught fire and the patient was burned alive.
The family of the deceased have held the doctors of emergency ward responsible for the tragedy and demanded action against them.
Administration of PGI has to say that Ghinder Singh’s death occurred during shock therapy when the ventilator caught fire due to short circuit.
