Pathankot: Pakistan takes first step, forms joint investigation team

Karachi: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has asked the Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief Aftab Sultan to form a joint investigation team to probe the Pathankot terror incident, comprising Inter-Services Intelligence ( ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI), sources in the Prime Minister’s House said.

The decision was taken in a high-level meeting that took place a few days ago.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, National Security Adviser Lt-Gen (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar attended the meeting.

Prime Minister’s House source said that Sharif is actively involved in getting to the bottom of the Pathankot incident.

The decision to form a joint investigation team was discussed between Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Raheel Sharif.

New Delhi has shared with Islamabad some evidence of the Pathankot attackers’ purported links to Pakistan. (ANI)
