Paswan, launches fill the jail agitation, arrested

Patna, July 27: LJP president Ramvilas Paswan was today arrested while leading hundreds of his supporters to the Raj Bhawan to submit a memorandum to the governor seeking the resignation of Nitish Kumar government. LJP workers tried to force their way into the high security zone housing Governor Devanand Konwar and the chief minister”s residence, smashed the window panes of a couple of buses, and brickbatted the police, Senior Superintendent of Police Vinit Vinayak told PTI. Paswan and his party members, who launched a two-day, ”fill the jail agitation” against the ”failure of the Nitish Kumar government”, sat on a dharna 500 meters from Raj Bhavan and demanded that the police arrest them.

Several senior leaders of LJP, state party chief, Paswan”s brother Pashupati Kumar Paras, Maheswar Singh, Ramkishore Singh among others accompanied Paswan. The police lathi-charged the LJP supporters and workers and arrested Paswan and several of his party leaders, but released them shortly afterwards.

At least ten LJP activists and constables were injured in the clash with police, official sources said. .
