THE desire for a male child has killed yet another girl in the city. The Delhi Police found an infant’s body lying near railway tracks in IP Estate on Saturday morning.
According to the police, the girl child was born in a government hospital on Friday.
Her identity was verified by a dated stamp found on the child’s left arm.
The Delhi Police has started the investigation in the case and has sent the body for post- Morten examination.
The police’s central control room received a call on Saturday informing them about the child’s body lying on the side of a railway track. When the IP Estate police station staff reached the spot, they found the dead girl child covered with a piece of cloth.
When the police questioned the person who had called the police in the morning, he said that the infant was actually found lying on the railway track but he, with help from others, picked her up and placed her at the side of the tracks, a Delhi Police official informed.
Initial investigation has revealed that the parents were expecting a boy child but when the mother gave birth to a girl, the family allegedly left the child on the railway tracks. Whether she was already dead by then, is not yet confirmed. The infant was not run over by a train as there were no external injury marks on her body. The autopsy report will confirm her exact cause of death.
