New Delhi: Reacting upon the clearance of triple talaq ordinance, General Secretary Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Maulana Mahmood Madani declared it as interference in Shariah. He argued that neither the court nor parliament has the right to interfere in religious and family affairs of Muslims. Hence any law or ordinance which interferes into the Shariah is not acceptable for Muslims.
Meanwhile President Jamat Islami Hind and Vice-president Muslim Personal Law board Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri said the ordinance is against the constitution of the country. Because the constitution guarantees every citizen right to follow his religion. He said by passing the ordinance the government wants to impose a law which clashes with religious laws of Muslims. He ridicules the ordinance saying that this is perhaps the only law in which the act (talaq) has no effect, yet the doer of the act will have to face punishment for the act which has no effect.
It must be noted that the ordinance states that instant triple talaq is invalid but if a husband gives triple talaq, he will be jailed.
