Hyderabad: TRS MP from Nizamabad K Kavitha today demanded that Parliament pass the Women Reservation Bill with the same speed like the EBC Bill passed then only the country will really achieve progress. She also stressed the need to pass the 33% Women Reservation Bill, which was pending for quite some time in the Rajya Sabha. There should be a strong political will to pass the Women Reservation Bill, Kavitha observed.
Kavitha pointed out that the EBC Bill was passed in both the Houses of Parliament speedily even as some political parties made objections and others sought amendments. The TRS MPs also supported the EBC Bill with proposals to make amendments, including 12 per cent reservations to Muslim Minorities and 10 per cent to Scheduled Tribes in Telangana State.
The TRS MP said the Centre should take similar initiative to pass the Women Reservation Bill too. In a twitter, Kavitha said, “If the Women Reservation Bill could be passed with the same speed with which the Bill on economically weaker sections/general category reservations has been passed in both the Houses, the country would be truly progressive. We need more political will behind Reservation for Women”, she added.
