Pasamanda Muslims seek representation in UP govt

A delegation of Pasamanda Muslims on Friday met Samajwadi Party president Mulyam Singh Yadav and demanded that the community should be given proper representation in the Uttar Pradesh government.

“We have met Mulayamji and drew his attention towards the fact that no Pasmanda Muslim, comprising 85 per cent of the Muslim population, has been given place in either Rajya Sabha or Vidhan Parishad…There are also no ministers in Samajwadi government from the community,” Anis Mansoori, President of the Pasmanda Muslim Samaj, told reporters.

Mansoori said Yadav has assured them to look into their demands and do the needful.

Incidentally, the Samajwadi supremo had yesterday assured Shahi Imam Ahmad Bukhari that beside his son-in-law one more muslim candidate would be given party ticket in Vidhan Parishad.
