Union Minister for Textiles Panabaka Lakshmi has said that the ruling party had failed to educate the people in the State about the various welfare schemes introduced by the Congress government.
As part of her Krishna district tour, the Union minister spoke to the media at Gudivada near here this morning. She made it clear that all the welfare schemes introduced by the State government were funded by the State and Central governments but no leader in the State spent a Rupee from his or her pocket for the implementation of the welfare schemes.
Panabaka Lakshmi wondered about the fate of the State if the upper riparian States failed to release water downstream. She also stressed the paramount need to weed out dead wood and saboteurs from the party. She said that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana should take stern action against fence-sitters in this regard.
Stating that the Congress has a glorious record of 125 years, she felt that nothing would happen to the party if some selfish leaders leave the party. She exuded confidence that the Congress would retain power in 2014 general elections. (NSS)
