Party debacle self-inflicted: Dy CM

Reacting to the dismal performance of the ruling party in the just-concluded by-elections, Deputy Chief Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha has strongly felt that the Congress debacle was self-inflicted.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the Congress bagging two seats in the two Godavari districts, where YSRC influence was strong, has proved the fact that the so-called “sympathy” wave did not work.

Rajanarasimha said that the by-poll outcome would have been different had the party plunged into action some three or four months before the elections. “The weakness of the ruling party has become strength for the YSR Congress party,” he said, adding that the party had erred in not alerting the party cadre at right time. He said that there was urgent need for the party to take corrective measures to avoid recurrence of such things in future. (NSS)
