Hardline Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani today accused mainstream parties of enacting “drama” in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly over the return of mortal remains of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru to his family.
“The rejection of the resolution, aimed at seeking the return of mortal remains of Afzal Guru by the state Assembly is a planned drama,” Geelani said in a statement here.
Some boycotted the session (PDP) with a hope of getting a political mileage in the future, while the others rejected the resolution at the behest of the Centre,” the Hurriyat leader said.
He said the ruling party as well as the opposition have played a dirty game and tried to score political points over each other in an attempt to please the Centre.
Geelani also criticised police for placing him under house arrest and said his residence has virtually turned into
a jail and nobody even the staff working in his office are allowed inside.
