Secondary Education Minister K Parthasarathy on Wednesday said that he would file a petition in the High Court against the verdict of Special Court for Economic Offences, which awarded him two months simple imprisonment and fined Rs 5.15 lakh, on the charges of violation of Foreign Exchange Regulation Act.
Talking to media persons, Parthasarathy said that he would consult the legal experts over the Special Court orders and take an appropriate decision over filing appeal in the High Court. Stating that he would respect the Special court orders, he said that has full confidence on the courts and legal institutions. Responding to the demand for his resignation over the court’s judgment, the Minister said that he would consult senior party leaders and take a decision soon.
It may be recalled that the Economic Offences on Wednesday sentenced Parthasarathy to two months simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5.15 lakh for violating Foreign Exchange Regulation Act following a petition filed by the Enforcement Directorate.
