Parrot drones vulnerable to ‘hack attack’

A security researcher has created a flying contraption that can hijack Parrot drones due to its entirely insecure network, which is one of the industry’s leading manufacturers.

Samy Kamkar said it was easy to hijack the company’s products as they do not support a way of authenticating their Wi-Fi data, the BBC reports.

According to the report, the company is looking into the allegation.

Meanwhile, the experts said Parrot appeared to have ignored well-known guidelines.

Samy said that the Parrot’s drones used a specific block of publicly registered MAC addresses to identify themselves, which meant that the attacked drone could pick others out from the Wi-Fi connected equipment in the area. (ANI)
