It seems that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s efforts will be fructified in the near future if Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar offers to give land to Telangana Government for construction of a new Secretariat.
An official team is expected to visit the city to find an alternate land in the State probably at Medak. Thus, it is likely that the Centre might take a decision to take over the land shown by the State government for its purposes. The Defence Minister has given a nod to send an official team to Hyderabad to see an alternate land in lieu of Gymkhana grounds and Byson grounds.
This was stated by two TRS MPs Jithender Reddy and Vinod Kumar, who attended the meeting. They later told media persons at Delhi that Parrikar responded positively to CM’s appeals to take necessary steps. The chief Minister, during his 40-minute talk with Manohar Parrikar, sought these two prime lands and offered other land bank for the Defence sector, they noted.
The MPs also said the Chief Minister also requested the Defence Minister to set up two Sainik Schools in Telangana State, besides seeking defence land to expand the national highways at Medak and Karimnagar districts. KCR also asked the Defence Minister to give permission to lay pipelines at Cantonment to shift Godavari waters from Yellampally project, they added. (NSS)
