Telangana official representative in the national capital S Venugopala Chary today said Defence Minister Manohar Parriker assured of setting aside the decision to close down Gough Road in Secunderabad Cantonment area.
Talking to mediapersons after a meeting with Parriker, Chary stated that the Union Minister has promised to postpone the decision to close down the Gough road. “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asked me to meet Parrikar and appeal to him against the closure of Gough Road in Secunderabad Cantonment area”, Venugopala Chary said. Parrikar responded positively to his plea, he said.
“Since the closure of the Gough Road would only add to the woes of motorists in the twin cities, we have urged the Defence Minister to take an amicable decision of postponing it. During our meeting, I have apprised Parriker about the Metro Rail works, growing traffic problems and use of more number of vehicles which demand more roads and use of existing roads. Closure of the Gough road will not prove handy for the people of the twin cities”, he said. (NSS)
