New Delhi: A parliamentary delegation led by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs S S Ahluwalia is on a two-day visit to Israel.
This is the first official visit of a delegation of MPs to the Jewish nation, the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry said in a statement.
The visit, which began on June 4, comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country scheduled for July.
The delegation comprises 10 MPs representing nine political parties from both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
As part of their visit, the delegation also met the Speaker of the Israeli Parliament (Knesset) Yuli Edelstein and views were exchanged on the vital role of Parliament.
“Ahluwalia and Speaker Edelstein agreed on the need for countries to work together to combat the menace of terrorism, which was afflicting countries across the world,” the ministry said.
The delegation was also briefed on bilateral relations by the Political Director of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The delegation had a number of field visits to the technology companies and also saw the latest water solutions for precision farming in Israel.
