Now the ball is in the court of parliament to make the long pending demand for a Telangana State become a reality after the Group of Ministers (GoM) headed by Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar finally getting ready the A. P. Reorganization Bill 2014 with the needed additions and deletions on Tuesday for introducing in parliament during its brief session commencing from Wednesday.
The draft Bill which has reached the MHA after it has been rejected by the start legislature was given the final touches by the GoM today after taking into consideration the opinions and suggestions made by the members in the state legislature. It is pertinent note here that as many as 9072 amendments were suggested by the members in the State Assembly.
Thus all eyes are now focussed on parliament which has to take the final call for the creation of a new state in the country, though the move has triggered off an unprecedented political controversy with allegations that the Congress party heading the UPA government was doing so for political gains with an eye in the ensuing general elections in the country.
The seven-member GoM which met today sans the Finance Minister P.Chidambaram is understood to have taken into consideration the numerous amendments that have been put forth by the members of the State Assembly. However one fails to understand whether the GoM has genuinely taken into consideration all the amendments because as per the official figures as many as 9072 amendments were put forth. Moreover the draft bill which has been rejected by the State Assembly along with the amendments have reached the MHGA only yesterday. Thus one wonders whether the MHA had taken all the pains to patiently study the amendments and then incorporate them in the final Bill.
However what ever form the new T Bill might have been given the final touches by the MHA, which proclaims that it had taken into view all the concerns of the affected parties and people of all the regions, one wonders whether it would withstand the close scrutiny of the political parties when it comes before parliament.
While the central government seem to be determined and ensure that the T Bill sails through without any hitch in the ensuing parliament session it self, clouds of uncertainty continues to linger following the turbulent political atmosphere prevailing in the national capital following various stake holders in the matter waging their own struggle, undoubtedly for their own selfish political survival.
There is no denial of the fact that never in the history of the country that such a turbulent political situation has existed for want of bifurcating a state to create a new state. Thus the entire nation’s focus would be on the parliament session commencing from tomorrow amidst an unprecedented political drama being enacted by both the separatists and integrationists. What is more never before one had come across when the members of a state ministry were vertically divided on regional basis. What is more the Chief Minister along with his supporters from within his own ministry and supporters from his party are sitting on dharna in the national capital, while the Deputy Chief Minister and his other supporters within the cabinet are planning another protest dharna.
As B JP senior leader and Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj had aired her doubts about the smooth functioning of parliament due to the members of the Congress Party from the state themselves determined to stall the proceedings in parliament, the brief session is bound to be a stormy one and hence the Telangana Bill undoubtedly would encounter numerous hurdles.(NSS).
