Parliament fails to take lesson from 2001 attack, serious lapse in security

Only few months after observing the tenth anniversary of Parliament attack, the gaps in Parliament house security have again come wide open.

Taking no lessons from the 2001 incident, a large number security tools like passes and ID cards have been officially reported missing. And surprisingly it is not only the office staff in the house but a plethora of MPs and ex MPs who have reported of lost of such important access tools. As per Zee Research Group’s (ZRG) analysis the number of lost security cleared access tools in Parliament has swelled from 131 in 2010 to 153 incidents in 2011.

Former Director General of Tihar Central Jail, Ajay Aggarwal said, “This is a matter of grave concern. An immediate enquiry needs to be ordered in this case to plug the loopholes.”

“The attack on parliament in 2001 was an eye opener for the entire country and for the lawmakers where we could have lost life of some of our MPs. Penalizing aam aadmi is easier than fining an MP for their misconduct” he added.
