Abu Dhabi, January 14: For most they are simply places to park the car while shopping. But for a handful of second-hand car salesmen, public car parks are being used as makeshift showrooms.
The transport authority in Dubai has warned those looking to use car parks as bases for their burgeoning car rental or car sales business to pack up and leave.
Adel Al Marzooki, director of the parking department at the Roads and Transport Authority, said that a new law would be brought in to regulate the matter. “Selling or renting vehicles at public parking in the Dubai emirate is an express infringement of RTA rules, as well as car selling and rental regulations prevailing in the emirate.
“The utilisation of car-parking for selling or renting vehicles… trespasses on the rights of others, through depriving them of parking spaces,” he said.
