Parineeti declines to comment on Jadhav issue

Mumbai : Actress Parineeti Chopra has refrained from commenting on the death sentence awarded to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav by the Pakistan government, saying she is not “well informed” about the issue.

“I feel I am the least important and least worthy (person) to comment on this genuinely. Our government is on it and they are dealing with it the way they should and they will do what is best for the country and the person involved. I dont think my opinion matters,” Parineeti told reporters here at an event.

While her co-star from upcoming film “Meri Pyaari Bindu,” Ayushmann Khurrana, said he would support the governments stand on the issue.

“We dont know what exactly is happening between RAW and the ISI. You and me cant talk about it. Being an Indian we can support our country and our soldiers what else,” he added.

Recently, singer Sonu Nigam made a statement on Twitter against the use of loudspeakers for azaan, the call for prayer in mosques.

When asked about the comments made by Sonu, Parineeti said, “I feel every person has their own opinion either they can discuss it at home or express their views on Twitter. I personally have no opinion on this I am happy in my life.”

Ayushmann said in a democratic country like India everyone has an opinion be it negative or positive.
“We are in democracy where one can say positive or negative things I think thats the beauty of our nation.”

Parineeti, however, said celebrities are not entitled to comment on each and every burning issue.

“We are actors because we love acting and entertaining people and we love to be in films. But just because our voice reaches the whole country one cant force me to have an opinion on something that doesnt concern me.

“…Those who want to comment can comment and those who dont want to comment they dont. Its a democracy and we are forgetting that,” she said. “Meri Pyaari Bindu” hits cinema houses on May 12.
