On Sunday, actor-turned-politician Paresh Rawal came in the eye of the storm after his video from a rally in Rajkot had compared the royals (raja) and music (vaja) to monkeys (vandra), which did not go down well and Rajput community started protesting.
The 67-year-old BJP MP from East Ahmedabad after being castigated retracted and apologised as well, claiming that the message wasn’t for the Rajput community but aimed at ‘Nizam of Hyderabad’.
He said: “I apologise unconditionally to all the members of Rajput community. I don’t know why I spoke those words. I never intended to hurt sentiments of any community: Paresh Rawal on his earlier statement allegedly comparing royals and music with monkeys.”
