Refusal by parents to buy a cake for her birthday drove a 12-year-old girl to commit suicide.
The shocking incident happened in Site II of Borabanda on Tuesday morning. According to SR Nagar police, the deceased, Iffat Begum, celebrated her 12th birthday on Monday. She got upset when her parents ignored her demand to buy a cake on her birthday. Although she did not react on Monday night, she resorted to the extreme step at her residence on Tuesday morning by hanging using a rope.
On information given by Iffat’s father Rasheed police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for autopsy. (INN)
