“Paradise lies at your mother’s feet”: Indonesian School sets an example

HYDERABAD: In one of the Indonesian School, all the mothers were invited so that their kids can clean their feet.

The school had a special day to conduct the foot-washing ceremony to remind the students about the saying that “Paradise lies at your mother’s feet.”

Children today needs to realize that ‘Mother’ is the person who bears a lot of pain and discomfort and spent hours in labor so that you could have life.

There are many negative view about women in Islam. Many not aware of the fact that mothers are specifically held in very high esteem in Islam.

There are verses in the Holy Qur’an and Hadith that repeatedly acknowledged the great hardship that a mother carries during pregnancy and childbirth.

“We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents; in pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she give him birth” (46:15).

And also, there are many instances that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) commanded believers to respect their mothers.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: Your Heaven lies under the feet of your mother (Ahmad, Nasai).34

A man came to the Prophet (PBUH) and said, ‘O Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet (PBUH) said: Your mother. The man said, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet (PBUH) said: Then your mother. The man further asked, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet (PBUH) said: Then your mother. The man asked again, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet (PBUH) said: Then your father. (Bukhari, Muslim).

All the verses and hadith, demonstrate the importance of this figure in Islam.

We are nothing when we were born. It is with her tired less care and love we grow and develop and in return deserves the most respect.

She always cares and loves more than we deserve and never wants anything from her kids instead she loves us with open heart.

But, today, millions of these selfish kids all together can never give her the same love and affection in her old age.

There a golden Sayings by Hazrat Ali (R.A): “Do not use the sharpness of your speech on the mother who taught you how to speak.”

But, today’s youth have lost respect for mothers. They explode on her with rude behavior, make derogatory remark without paying any mind to her feelings.

Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) has given high status to our parents.

” A man once consulted the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) about taking part in a military campaign. The Prophet (PBUH) asked the man if his mother was still living. When told that she was alive, the Prophet (PBUH) said: “(Then) stay with her, for Paradise is at her feet.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

On another occasion, the Prophet(PBUH) said: “God has forbidden for you to be undutiful to your mothers.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari).

The children must supplicate for them  as Allah teaches us in the verse (which means): “…My Lord and Sustainer! Be kind and have mercy on them as they cherished, nurtured and sustained me in childhood.” [Quran 17: 24]

Remember…..She is a symbol of love and care. She is the one who will love you unconditionally until her last breath. Administer the love she deserves.
