Panic prevailed in the Amannagar area of Old City after an explosion on Tuesday night.
Two persons who were sitting in the vicinity of the spot where the blast took place sustained minor injuries.
Local residents who heard a loud noise took it to be bomb blast and rushed out of their houses. The incident occurred at around 11 p.m the previous night in Amannagar A, Lane No 1 which abuts the railway tracks.
Mohd Saleem, a fruit vendor who sustained minor burns in the incident said, “I was sleeping on the push cart outside my house when I woke up to loud noise. I saw a lot of smoke and people were running around.”
Abdullah, a senior citizen who was sitting in front of his talking to a person said that, “All of a sudden a loud noise came followed by sparkles. The curtain of my house burnt down and also my clothes,” he recalls.
Unconfirmed reports said that some miscreants might have thrown a crude bomb from the railway tracks. However, the police have refused to divulge any details at the moment.
Senior police officials including Additional Commissioner (Crimes), Sandeep Shandilya, Joint Commissioner, Special Branch Mala Reddy and DCP (South) Sarvashresth Tripathi visited the spot. (INN)
