Hyderabad, July 28: “Justice Srikrishna Committee would submit its report keeping in view of the best interests of the people of Andhra Pradesh,” said VK Duggal ,Member-Secretary of the Committee.
The committee members received representations form the public and people representatives at Burugupudi village in Korukonda mandal as a part of their two day visit to East Godavari district on Tuesday.
Mr Duggal further said that the Committee would submit its report to government as per the time schedule fixed, and suggestions given in this meet were valuable and expressed satisfaction over the public response.
The Committee members enquired about the role played by the villagers during the separate Andhra agitation during the year 1972. The Committee members asked the villagers why they were asking for a United Andhra Pradesh now when they had agitated for a separate Andhra in 1972.
The villagers replied that state government had concentrated on making Hyderabad more developed after the separate Andhra agitation. They said that a United Andhra Pradesh would help the people now.
The Panel members enquired about the migration of people from Andhra region to Telangana region and vice versa, literacy, educated unemployed in the village and women development.
The peoples’ representations were translated in to English by the local translator to the Commission members.
Korukonda mandal MPP B Satyanarayana Murthy represented to the Commission for United Andhra Pradesh as many of the people from Andhra region were settled at Hyderabad.
N .Veeraiah Chowdary said that a United Andhra Pradesh was in the interest of the people of this area.
B Sudhakar represented that Rajahmundry should be capital if the state was to be divided.
Korukonda Sarpanch V Narasimha Rao said that Andhra Pradesh was formed on linguistic basis and its identity should be continued.
Many of the women representatives and the student representatives were in favour of United Andhra Pradesh and made representations accordingly.
Consultants of the Committee Amithe Motwamy, Ravi Dhingra, Nodal officer of the state Rajiv Sarma, In charge collector of the district K Sashidar were present.
Later the Committee visited Godavari barrage at Dowleswaram and irrigation officials explained the delta irrigation system to the members.
