Bhubaneswar, August 01: Days before allegedly committing suicide and eliminating four of his family members, senior IAS officer Jagadananda Panda had pleaded innocence in a CBI case before a senior union minister, sources close to him claimed.
Panda, who was protector general of emigrants, had told the minister he was innocent and one could check his asset list given to the ministry, an IAS officer who attended a condolence meeting today said without naming the minister.
Despite this, the OBI raided his office and houses in Delhi and also his native place at Deogaon village in Orissa’s Bargarh district, he said.
In a suicide note found from his house, Panda mentioned about the CBI raids and claimed to be innocent, sources said, adding nothing incriminating was found during the search conducted at the senior officer’s houses and office
