Panchkula, March 17: A Court here today dismissed the anticipatory bail application of the son of a high-profile retired bureaucrat couple, who was arrested earlier this month on charges of attempt to murder.
Panchkula’s District and Sessions Judge S P Singh dismissed the plea of Ranjit Bajaj, son of retired bureaucrat couple from Punjab– Rupan Deol and B R Bajaj.
Ranjit, currently lodged in a jail in Ambala, was arrested from his house in Chandigarh on March 3.
“Ranjit’s bail plea has been dismissed by the Panchkula Court. Now we will be moving the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the decision,” Bajaj’s family lawyer Rajan Malhotra said.
He said, “we have also filed an application in the Supreme Court to shift this case to some other state to ensure a fair trial as the complainant belongs to a high-profile family”.
