Panaji: The elections to Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) would be conducted on March 6, a senior official said today.

“Elections to all the 30 wards of CCP would be held on March 6 and counting on March 8,” State Election Commissioner Dr M Modassir told PTI.

The civic body covers the capital city of Panaji and nearby areas, including parts of Taleigao and Ribander. Modassir said a total of 31,504 voters are eligible to cast their votes for this election.

The one-month long model code of conduct will be enforced from February 8 onwards.

The official said the voting would be done through Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and the expenditure limit per candidate has been increased to Rs 2.5 lakh which is almost three times compared to the 2011 election.

The process of filing of nominations will be held from February 9 to 16.
