Mumbai: In order to curb the use of fake PAN cards across the country, Govt. took a decision to make Aadhaar mandatory for issuing PAN. Old PAN card also need to be linked to Aadhaar.
Now, linking PAN with Aadhaar is made simpler by Income Tax Department. IT Dept. started online facility on its portal to link PAN with Aadhaar.
Steps to link them are as follow
- Visit website of Income Tax Dept. (https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-Filing/Services/LinkAadhaarHome.html)
- Enter PAN, Aadhaar number, Name as per Aadhaar and click on “link Aadhar” button
- If Date of Birth and Gender is matched but name is not exactly matched then One Time Password need to be provided.
According to the news published in DC, if the name on Aadhaar is completely different from what is written on PAN card, then card holder need to change his/her name either on PAN card or on the Aadhaar card.
Details on Aadhaar card can also be updated/corrected online via UIDAI official website, https://uidai.gov.in/.
