Pan, Aadhaar will made mandatory for Fee reimbursement

One more hurdle for the students belonging to T state from the upcoming academic year. Aadhaar card and PAN would be made mandatory for getting admission in any college or for concession like fee reimbursement. The cabinet sub-committee on the fee reimbursement has drafted tough norms to checkmate fake candidates.

“After getting admission, he/she shall submit the Aadhaar card and PAN card to the colleges which will be hosted on a website. After verification by the social welfare department, the candidate will make eligible for the scheme,” said government sources.

Government sources said that students who secure rank below 4000 rank in any common entrance tests would be eligible for full reimbursement. However, the students who secure above 4000 rank would be given a partial amount.

“Students whose attendance is less than 75 per cent and with backlogs are not eligible for the scheme. It will be only given to the students who are promoted to the next year”, he added.

Only partial amount will be given to students who are pursuing specialized courses like MTech, M Pharma etc in order to reduce burden on the state coffers, depending upon the percentages.

Further sources said the government has decided to credit the amount directly into students’ account who is studying in the private colleges. It is learnt the government has decided not to extend the scheme to erring minority colleges.
