Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha member Palwai Goverdhan Reddy on Friday came down heavily on the State Government’s move to release water to Krishna Delta covering West Godavari, Guntur, Prakasam and Krishna districts to raise the seed beds by the farmers.
Talking to media persons at assembly premises, Goverdhan Reddy asked as to how could the government release water from Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, where the water levels has touched rock bottom due to shortage of inflows. Asking the government to review its orders, he said that the Telangana farmers would launch agitation against the government orders.
The Rajya Sabha MP dismissed the media reports over the change in leadership in the State as baseless and far from truth and termed them as `speculation’. He said that Congress president Sonia Gandhi has not discussed with any leaders from the State over the change in leadership after the drubbing of Congress party in the recent by-elections. He said that the High Command would take a decision on change in leadership only after addressing the Telangana statehood issue.
Responding to the proposal of Rayala-Telangana, he said that a section of Congress leaders raised this issue at their personal level and the Congress party was in no way connected to it.
