Rajya Sabha MP of Congress Palvai Govardhan Reddy on Saturday advised the Congress party to apologise to the public on the mistakes done by former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party office, Govardhan Reddy said that instead of trying to hide the facts from the people, the Congress party should publicly admit the ‘misdeeds’ done by YSR and apologise for the same. He suggested that Congress Legislature Party and Pradesh Congress Committee pass a resolution tendering apology to the public for YSR’s corruption and illegal activities.
Govardhan Reddy said that he has repeatedly claimed that YSR was a corrupt politician and still maintain the same stand. He said attempts to conceal YSR’s corruption would have an adverse impact on the Congress party and people would never vote for it. He said there were some Congress leaders who are still praising YSR as they got benefitted from his corruption.
The Rajya Sabha MP said that much damage has already been caused and by tendering an apology the Congress party could minimise the damage in next elections. He also demanded that the Congress High Command take stern action against the leaders who are making anti-party statements. (INN)
