Palestine: Israel’s legislative body, Knesset, is about to discuss a draft bill which discriminates Palestinians in approaching the Supreme Court and submitting petitions.
According to a report published in The Middle East Monitor, The draft bill includes provisions which force Palestinians to pay three times as much as Israelis to submit the petitions. It means 300% increase in Court fees for Palestinians.
The new fees will come into effect immediately as soon as Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked support the proposal and it be approved by the committee.
A member of the joint list said that “This law is racist and aims to prevent the Palestinians from petitioning the Supreme Court in any decision it takes, especially in those decisions that are related to the Palestinians’ fate and the seizure of their lands, such as demolition, confiscation and similar decisions.”
This discriminatory act was in addition to many other exploitative acts passed in Knesset by Israel. This makes difficult for Palestinians to seek justice, moreover Palestinians are being charged with demolition costs when they are razed by occupation forces.
