Jerusalem: A Palestinian toddler was killed and three of his family members injured in an arson attack on their home on Friday in Israel’s West Bank, where a sizeable Palestinian population resides.
At about 4 a.m., two masked men reached the Palestinian village of Duma, broke the windows of two houses and hurled Molotov cocktails inside, The Jerusalem Post reported, citing Israeli police.
Both houses caught fire. One building was empty at the time but the second had a family inside, and the flames spread killing the 18-month toddler.
His four-year old-brother and both his parents were injured. The baby’s mother sustained 70 percent burns.
“I am shocked over this reprehensible and horrific act. This is an act of terrorism in every respect,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
Graffiti in Hebrew was scrawled on walls near the site of the incident, reading “revenge” and “live the king”.
