Pak’s retired SC Judge assumes charge as new NAB chief

Islamabad: Retired Justice of Pakistan’s Supreme Court, Javed Iqbal, on Wednesday assumed charge as the new chief of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Justice Iqbal, who will replace Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, assumed charge as the chairman of the NAB-country’s apex anti-corruption organisation- after his appointment was cleared by the government and opposition.

As the first task to the officials, the retired judge asked for details of all outstanding cases, references and records.

Justice Iqbal, however, would continue his previous position as the head of the missing persons’ commission until his team submits the report.

“I have worked hard on the report and it will be submitted soon,” The Dawn quoted Iqbal, as saying.
