Chandigarh: Intelligence officials arrested a Pakistani spy from Gurdaspur cantonment area on Wednesday night. He has been charged with spying for Pakistan. He was allegedly passing vital information regarding Kartarpur corridor construction work to Pakistan’s intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
ISI could misuse the information to disturb peace in the region and to harm pilgrims who visit the corridor after the construction completes.
As reported by India Today, Intelligence officials recovered a mobile phone from the possession of the accused spy which was used by Singh to communicate with Pakistan-based handlers and share photographs of the Kartarpur corridor construction site.
Though the intention behind the espionage is not yet clear, the initial interrogation revealed that Vipin Singh was “promised money” on the completion of “assignment”.
Intelligence officials are interrogating Singh to extract more from him.
