Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali and Atif Aslam’s concert cancelled

Mumbai :After Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s film wing, the Chitrapat Sena, issued a 48-hour ultimatum to all Pakistani artists to leave the country in the aftermath of Uri attacks, Pakistani classical singer Shafqat Amanat Ali’s concert scheduled on Friday has been cancelled.

Not only this, Gurgaon administration on Wednesday advised organisers of a concert featuring Pakistani singer Atif Aslam to call off the event planned for October 15 in the city.

Radio Mirchi Group Manager (Sales) Srinivas told PTI “We decided to cancel the concert of Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali. We took this decision in the aftermath of Uri attacks,”. The concert was scheduled for September 30, but the decision was taken on September 20itself, Srinivas said.
On the other hand hours after members of the Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Kranti Dal met Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner T L Satyaprakash, asking him to cancel the event. In a letter handed to the Deputy Commissioner, the outfit warned “if the event takes place, and any incident happens because of it, the district administration will be responsible”.

Shafqat Amanat Ali’s concert was cancelled on September 20, much before the saffron parties raised the issue, demanding cancellation of the event. In fact, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad raised the issue recently, a few days back,” he said. The event was cancelled after considering public safety and security issues, Srinivas added. VHP and Bajrang Dal had been demanding cancellation of the concert after the Uri attack in which as many as 18 soldiers were martyred and four terrorists were neutralised.Bajrang Dal Karnataka unit President Suryanarayan said there was no need of inviting the Pakistan singer.
