A Pakistani man and his father were detained after they flare up his wife for leaving home without his permission.
Muhammad Siddique became infuriated after he came to know that his wife, Shabana Bibi, 25, had visited her sister without his permission, said Muhammad Azam, the victim’s brother.
Before dousing her with petrol, Siddique and his father beat Bibi and set her on fire in Central Pakistan’s Muzaffargarh district on Friday.
According to Azam, Shabana had been married to Siddique for three years and had suffered repeated domestic abuse for the couple’s inability to have children.
Shabana suffered 80 percent of burns on her body and succumbed to her injuries in hospital on Saturday.
“We have arrested the husband and father-in-law of the deceased woman and charged them for murder and terrorism,” district police chief Rai Zameer-ul-Haq told the media.
