New Delhi: Pakistan army wanted to keep Jadhav’s case a secret. The army, ISI, and Pakistan Government kept the trial’s information confidential and disclosed about it. when it was near to be completed.
The military court sentenced Jadhav to death in Islamabad alleging him for espionage and claimed that he was an agent of Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW). According to them, the former naval officer entered their territory through Balochistan.
“The Pakistani security establishment was apprehensive that information on Jadhav’s trial could get leaked from some political functionaries in the government. So they maintained complete secrecy on the trial and informed the government only once the process was in the final stages.” says a recent report prepared by R&AW.
Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa confirmed his death sentence. India has not been provided with any information about Jadhav since then. There is no clue about his health or whether he was provided with a defence lawyer.
The Indian Government has claimed that they will do anything to save him and the way Jadhav’s trial took place has created a protest in India against Pakistan.
Pakistani forces have resisted giving any information about Jadhav’s whereabouts. The reports provided by R&AW says that Jadhav was kidnapped by “subversive outfits being backed by Pak ISI” from Iran, while the Intelligence is trying to get the information about his health.
