New Delhi: Condemning the release of Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed from house arrest, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Ram Madhav said Pakistan has a history of letting terrorists roam freely.
Speaking to media, the BJP leader on Friday said, “This has been the unfortunate history with Pakistan that the terrorists, who have been branded as terrorists by the entire international community, are left to roam around freely.”
He added that this shows the character of the Pakistan Government and its administration.
Saeed, accused of masterminding the 2008 attacks in Mumbai that killed 166 people, was released earlier in the day after a Pakistan judicial body on Wednesday ordered his release from house arrest, rejecting a request from the Government of Punjab to extend his detention by three months.
In his first address after being released, Saeed had blamed India and the US for his detention and raked up the Kashmir issue.
The decision to put Saeed under house arrest in January was seen as a response to actions undertaken by U.S. President Donald Trump’s White House against nations deemed linked to terrorism.
