A business delegation from Pakistan arrived here on Sunday after having fruitful bilateral trade talks under the Indo-Pak Joint Business Forum in New Delhi. In Amritsar, they visited the Golden Temple and exchanged pleasantries with Indians. Briefing media here, the vice president of the Indian Importers Association, Pradeep Sehgal, said: “This delegation has come from Delhi after attending a Joint Indo-Pak Business Meeting, and now, they would be returning to Pakistan. There were general discussions on issues like pending MFN (most favoured nation) status of Pakistan, issues related to the port and so on.” A member of the Pakistan delegation said both governments needed to open more border posts for trade. “There are a lot of issues, including that only one of our borders have opened. And, we have suggested that more border posts should be opened up. Issues related to visa, for which we have also given recommendations, is being done. And, we hope that we will take these issues forward to our government,” said Syed Yawar Ali, co-chairman of the Indo-Pak Joint Business Forum. Cross border trade between India and Pakistan has also suffered a huge setback after numerous incidents of ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir”s Poonch District. Both countries were involved in an exchange of gun fire in August this year.
