Islamabad: Chinese ophthalmologists will be performing free eye surgeries for Pakistani nationals in January.
According to the media sources, the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has announced around 500 free will be performed by Chinese Ophthalmologists at a charity healthcare facility in Karachi.
Qaiser Sajjad, PMA secretary-general on Wednesday has said: “We feel happy to inform the people about the ‘Bright Journey Pakistan’ project, wherein 500 eye surgeries will be performed by the Chinese ophthalmologists at the PEBS Hospital, a charity facility, in North Karachi from January 10-24, 2018.”
He added, “This is in pursuance of the collaboration of the medical associations of the two countries to strengthen the Pakistan-China medical corridor.”
Before the official announcement has been made a Chinese delegation from International Health Exchange and Cooperation, China (IHECC) had earlier visited Pakistan to finalize arrangements of the activity.
According to the sources, The four-member Chinese delegation headed by Hu Meiqi, deputy director of the IHECC has signed a signed a memorandum of understanding with the PMA.
He has also offered to bear all expenses in organizing the free eye camp as a gift from China to the poor and needy patients of Pakistan.
PMA Karachi President Shoukat Malik said: “It is being carried out as a gesture of goodwill to promote friendly relations between the two countries.”
