Pakistan Army chief confirms death sentence of 8

Islamabad: Pakistan Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday confirmed the death sentences of eight “hardcore terrorists” tried by military courts, whereas three others were awarded imprisonment, an official said.

The convicts were involved in the Safoora Goth massacre, the Sabeen Mahmud murder case, and other heinous crimes related to terrorism, including the killing of innocent civilians, law enforcement personnel and members of the armed forces, Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor said.

“These terrorists include those who planned and executed attack on persons of Ismaili community at Safoora Chowrangi in Karachi, wherein 45 persons died at the spot and six others got injured. They also include those who killed a social worker, Sabeen Mahmud, and kidnapped two Chinese engineers and a civilian for ransom,” Maj. Gen. Ghafoor said.
