Pakistan Army: 12 militants sentenced to death

Islamabad: The powerful army Chief, General Raheel Sharif has confirmed death sentence of another 12 “hardcore terrorists”, over their involvement in numerous attacks against security forces. The Inter Services Public Relations said in a statement on Thursday.

The convicts are Muhammad Arbi an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in in abetting attack on Bannu Jail , Rafi Ullah the active member of Sepah-e-Sahaba, Qari Asif Mehmood, Shawaleh, Muhammad Zeeshan an active member of Al-Qaeda, Nasir Khan, Shoukat Ali, ImdadUllah, Muhammad Umar, Sabir Shah, Khandan, Anwar Ali.

The convicts has supported the 2012 attack on armed forces, law enforcement agencies and civilians and breaking of Bannu Jail. A large number of militants managed to escape when a group of gunmen attacked the jail with rockets, guns and grenades.

These hardcore militants were tried in military courts and were awarded death sentence.

Nearly 350 inmates were hanged in Pakistan since lifting a 2008 moratorium on executions in 2014 after a Taliban attack on a school in the northwestern city of Peshawar killed 150 people, mostly children.
