Pak to allow Kulbhushan Jadhav meet his wife on Humanitarian grounds

Islamabad: Pakistan has today announced that it will allow alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav who has been sentenced to death by a military court to meet his wife on “humanitarian grounds”.

The Pakistan’s military court accusing Jadhav- a former Indian Navy Officer of being an Indian agent of the Research and Analysis Wing has sentenced him to death.

Earlier, New Delhi has moved to the International Court of Justice to vacate his death sentence.

He was arrested in March 2016 on the espionage charges and Pakistan claimed the Indian national to be involved in “terrorist activities” in the restive Balochistan region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said a Note Verbale to this effect was sent to the Indian High Commission here on Friday.

The Ministry said: “The government of Pakistan has decided to arrange a meeting of Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav with his wife, in Pakistan, purely on humanitarian grounds.”

A statement from Pakistan said Jadhav had “confessed” in a Pakistani court “that he was tasked by RAW to plan, coordinate and organize espionage, terrorist and sabotage activities aimed at destabilizing and waging war against Pakistan”.
