Pakistan today called for resumption of dialogue process to promote bilateral relations between the two neighbours with a view to unlocking the collective potential for development.
This was emphasised by Pakistan High Commissioner Salman Bashir in his address to the 2nd meeting of the India-Pakistan Joint Business Forum.
“The High Commissioner stated that the Joint Business Forum should steer the process for achieving breakthrough in
Pakistan-India economic relations by identifying opportunities, impediments and prescribing solutions,” a
statement by Pakistan High Commission said.
Economic and trade cooperation has to be mutually beneficial and on equitable terms, it added.
The private sector should also play its role in positively influencing political and public opinion and in
suggesting a pragmatic course for unlocking the collective potential for development. The High Commissioner also
emphasised the importance of resumption of dialogue process,” it said.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Syed Yawar Ali.
Currently, trade between India and Pakistan stands at USD 2.5 billion.
