Lahore: A parliamentary committee will meet on Wednesday to decide the name for caretaker chief minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former opposition leader, Mehmood-ur-Rasheed has said that PTI would propose the names of news analyst Ayaz Amir and defence analyst Dr Hassan Askari for the post of caretaker chief minister, reports Geo TV.
On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had nominated the names of former Pakistan Navy chief Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah and Justice (retired) Sahir Ali, the report said.
The parliamentary committee consists of Rana Sanaullah, Malik Ahmed Khan and Khuwaja Imran Nazir who represent the government side and Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, Sibtain Khan and Shoaib Siddiqui representing the opposition.
If the parliamentary committee fails to arrive at a consensus over the name of caretaker, the matter would then be forwarded to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which will announce a caretaker chief minister for the province.
