Islamabad: Islamabad Police and Airport Security Force (ASF) officials have confirmed the arrest of three Chinese for filming the recently constructed Islamabad Airport with the help of a drone.
The Express Tribune quoted a spokesperson of the airport as saying that ASF officials had acted promptly in neutralizing the drone and taking the errant Chinese into custody.
In the wake of this incident and with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi being abroad for the CHOGM Summit, the government postponed the inauguration of the new airport to May 3.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had announced earlier that the new airport would start full operations on April 20 after its inauguration by Prime Minister Abbasi.
Adviser to Prime Minister on Aviation Sardar Mehtab Abbasi has directed the CAA to complete additional tests and trials in order to improve the reliability and efficiency of systems at the new airport and to bring it in line with international standards. (ANI)
